SEWING || UPDATE

I've made a couple of trips to spotlight recently to find some supplies for my sew sweet swap pouch and to get out of the house. I found a few different choices for my zippered pouch, I couldn't decide in store, so I bought a few options to decide at home. I've found a tutorial for a pouch that I'm hoping will work with my now chosen fabric (I don't want to give away too much just yet!).

I've been wanting to make a sewing machine cover for a while now. Up until my recent trip to spotlight, I thought I would try out quilting with multi-coloured blocks for the machine cover. However, as soon as I saw the lemon pattern, I knew it was the one for me! I'm so excited to start that project (after my sew sweet swap is finished). I did buy the wrong size bias tape though, I've never used or bought any bias tape before so I didn't really have any idea what would be suitable. It's a good excuse to head back to spotlight though!

I scored this set of elastic glides for $1 in a sale bin, which is pretty cool. I'm really loving the oranges and pinks in these patterns, can't wait to use these pieces!

I've also whipped up a needle book today. All my needles were in their original packaging, or sticking out of a small pin cushion, so I thought it would be a good idea to make something to keep them all together.

The floral material came from a pack of scraps I picked up at a local op-shop. I came up with some measurements based on my largest needle, then sewed two pieces of the floral material together, turned it right way out and top stitched.

I used some basic brown felt I had in my scrap bag and just stitched it down the middle to make pages. It's not perfect, but it does the job!

I've just finished washing all the material and now need to do a little bit of ironing before getting started on the pouch! Can't wait to fill it up with treats and send it off!

    1. Hi Misty! Thanks for stopping by!
      Glad I stirred up an itch! I was the same as you last year. I got my sewing machine in dec 2012 as a birthday/xmas gift and was so excited, but it took me months to actually do anything with it! It was definitely worth it when I finally made something!
      I hope yours finds it way out the box soon :)
